I’ve seen a bunch of posts that are upset that Democrats are calling Republicans Nazis. I understand why that would upset you. So let me explain something you might not have noticed:

I’ve seen a bunch of posts that are upset that Democrats are calling Republicans Nazis. I understand why that would upset you. So let me explain something you might not have noticed:
A History Lesson We Can’t Ignore
(Please read and share—it matters.)

1. THEN:
In 1923, Hitler tried to overthrow the German government. He was arrested but treated lightly. He used the trial to gain attention and claim he was the victim.
NOW:
Trump tried to overturn the 2020 election. He was indicted, but used it to raise money, gain support, and say he’s being persecuted by a corrupt system.
—
2. THEN:
Hitler claimed to speak for the “common man” and blamed “elites,” teachers, and intellectuals for ruining the country. He promised to “Make Germany Great Again.”
NOW:
Trump says he’s fighting for “forgotten Americans,” blames teachers and professors for “brainwashing” kids, and ran with the slogan “Make America Great Again.”
—
3. THEN:
Hitler blamed Jews for Germany’s problems, calling them criminals and enemies of the state.
NOW:
Trump called immigrants “rapists,” claimed they “poison the blood” of the nation, and says immigrants are “invading” the U.S.
—
4. THEN:
Hitler teamed up with rich businessmen, privatized public services, and crushed unions. The rich got richer while workers lost rights.
NOW:
Trump gave massive tax breaks to billionaires and corporations, weakened worker protections, and appointed anti-union officials.
—
5. THEN:
When Hitler lost elections, he claimed they were stolen and said only his party spoke for “real Germans.”
NOW:
Trump still claims the 2020 election was stolen, even after 60+ court losses. He says Democrats are fake Americans and only he speaks for the “real” people.
—
6. THEN:
Hitler demanded loyalty to himself, not to Germany’s laws or Constitution.
NOW:
Trump said things like “I alone can fix it,” pressured officials to “just find 11,000 votes,” and asked his VP to break the law for him on January 6th.
—
7. THEN:
Hitler used “law and order” to crack down on opponents but ignored violence by his own supporters.
NOW:
Trump told police to be “rough” with suspects. He called the January 6th rioters “patriots” and promised to pardon them.
—
8. THEN:
The Nazis banned and burned books they didn’t like—especially about LGBTQ+ people, women’s rights, and “unpatriotic” ideas.
NOW:
Republican leaders are banning books about race, gender, and history in schools and libraries. Florida banned over 1,400 books in one year alone.
—
9. THEN:
Hitler shut down LGBTQ+ groups and forced women into traditional roles. Abortion was outlawed. LGBTQ+ people were sent to camps.
NOW:
Trump helped overturn Roe v. Wade. Republican-led states are banning abortion, restricting LGBTQ+ rights, and removing protections for trans kids.
—
10. THEN:
The Nazis used religion as a political tool and punished pastors who resisted.
NOW:
Trump held up a Bible for a photo op after tear-gassing peaceful protesters. Christian nationalism is rising, with some calling Trump “chosen by God.”
—
11. THEN:
Hitler said the world was laughing at Germany and used that anger to stir up nationalism.
NOW:
Trump says other countries are “laughing at us,” claims America is being “destroyed,” and pushes a “strongman” image to fix it.
—
12. THEN:
The Nazis rewrote schoolbooks and banned teachers from telling the truth about Germany’s past.
NOW:
Republican states have banned teaching about racism, slavery, and LGBTQ+ history. In Florida, teachers were told not to say “gay” or mention slavery’s real impact.
—
The Point:
Most Germans didn’t think they were following a monster.
They thought they were fixing their country.
They were scared, angry, and struggling—and someone told them who to blame.
Someone promised to make it all better.
They believed him.
And by the time they realized what he really was, it was too late.
This isn’t about left vs. right.
It’s not about hating Trump or loving Biden.
It’s about seeing a pattern that history has already shown us—clearly.
Authoritarians don’t walk in announcing themselves.
They come waving flags, quoting scripture, and promising greatness.
They speak to fear.
They say, “You’re the real victim. You’re the real patriot. Trust me.”
And they always need an enemy to blame.
If any of this feels familiar—it’s not your imagination.
You’re not overreacting.
You’re remembering.
History is not repeating itself exactly—but it’s rhyming.
Louder and faster than ever.
You don’t have to agree on everything to see the danger.
You just have to care about truth.
And people.
And democracy.
Don’t look away.
Don’t wait until it’s too late.
Speak up. Share this. Be the warning that others ignored.
